We have learned 8 different tricks to help make our photos better.
0. Avoiding Mergers: Mergers make silly visual images like poles growing out of our heads. We should always be aware of what is going on around our subjects.
1. Rule of thirds: Helps us compose our photos more dynamically by placing the emphasis somewhere other then dead center.
2. Leading lines: Help guide the viewers eye in and around the photo, often to the emphasis.
3. Macro: Allows you to take photos of very small subjects. This opens up a whole new world of possibilities.
4. Simplicity: Teaches us to simplify the background so that our subject is easy see. This also helps in avoiding mergers.
5. Extreme Angles: Looking at the world from a completely different perspective allows us to see familiar subjects in a whole new and artistic light.
6. Framing: Creating frames within your photo helps direct the viewers gaze to your chosen subject.
7. Drawing with Light: Using light in photos is a quick way to create a more artistic mood immediately. Dramatic lighting creates powerful moods.
8. Fill in flash: For the moments the shadows are too dark, even though its bright outside.
Remember these are not RULES that must be followed each time. They are guidelines that help out most of the time. Use them singularly or in conjunction with each other. DO NOT FORGET THEM. We have taken so much time going over them because they have the ability to improve photos so much. Always keep them in mind as you push your photographs away from the snapshot realm and into the realm of artistic photographs.
